PPS Drill Down: A Live Audio Conference Series
on Proposed Sweeping Changes

A 4-part audio conference series, June 2007

Week four:
PPS Changes & Non-Routine Supplies
Tuesday, June 26, 2007, 1:00-2:30 p.m. Eastern Time

The CMS proposed refinements to the Home Health PPS include a major change in payment for medical supplies. As with all other aspects of the Proposed Rule, your supply revenue will depend on clinician OASIS accuracy.

Supply payment will be unbundled and based on specific OASIS information relative to patient severity and diagnosis codes. This change is likely to present a host of new challenges. Unfortunately many agencies have not even billed for medical supplies and most home health agencies do not currently have the capability to monitor their medical supply usage by diagnosis.

Learn how to cope with the bottom-line effects of the proposed rule as it relates to your supply payment from your expert speakers: Pat and Lynda Laff, Laff Associates, Hilton Head Island, SC, who advise their clients on how to streamline their organizations, achieve positive patient outcomes, increase profits and reduce costs.

By attending this audio conference, you’ll uncover valuable strategies to help you prepare for the changes and make sure your profits don’t take a beating. Afterwards, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss how the medical supply changes in the PPS Proposed Rule may affect their organization.
  • Recognize areas for improvement in the ordering and distribution of supplies.
  • Identify ways to develop medical supply “best practices.”
  • Create a process to ensure that supplies that are ordered by the clinicians are in accordance with agency protocols and physician orders.
  • Capture supply data to monitor use, costs and trends, and to identify problem areas for quick resolution.
  • Develop a plan for management of supply cost by diagnosis.
