ICD-9 Codes for Home Health New ICD-9 codes have been released – 144 new codes to be exact. But don’t worry. Our nationally recognized coding expert has sorted through the ICD-9-CM diagnosis codes to hone in on the changes that matter most to home care coders. Join top medical coding authority Lisa Selman-Holman for a no-nonsense, plain-English explanation of the new FY2008 ICD-9 diagnosis codes. New codes of interest to home health coders include 5th-digit extensions to dysphagia (787.20 – 787.29), 54 distinct new codes for lymphoma (200.30 – 202.78) and 21 new V codes that will help you provide more information about a patient’s condition, such as a personal history of sudden cardiac arrest (V12.53) and personal history of transient ischemic attack (V12.54). 16 codes are deleted, among them dysphagia (787.2) – you’ll now have to add a 5th digit option; family history of other cardiovascular diseases (V17.4) and family history of other endocrine and metabolic diseases (V18.1). In addition, 5 codes are revised, including two for hearing loss and deafness. This is the most comprehensive new code prep course offered anywhere for home health. You won’t want to miss it! Join us on Tuesday, June 12 for the first word on the new code set. Best part: pay just one registration fee and your entire staff can listen in and ask Lisa their questions. Head’s up: All of the code changes take effect Oct. 1, 2007 (there is no grace period). Be ready! Register today for this “must attend” event. One registration fee lets your entire staff listen in!
